A plan to simplify and streamline superannuation

Reducing personal income tax - SATO

Changes to the simplified tax system (STS) for the 2005-2006 year

Recent legislative amendments have affected the way the simplified tax system (STS) works and the amount of tax payable by certain small businesses in the STS.

These changes only apply to income years starting on or after 1 July 2005.  For most taxpayers, this means the changes will first apply to their assessment for the 2005-06 income year.

HECS voluntary repayment changes

People thinking of making voluntary repayments on existing Higher Education Scheme (HECS) debts are encouraged to do so before 31 December 2004.

Any voluntary repayment of $500 or more received on or after 1 January 2005 will receive a bonus of 10%.

These changes are a result of the introduction of the Higher Education Loan Programme (HELP) from 1 January 2005.

Staff changes

This month we welcome Giselle Burn as our new receptionist / secretary.  Giselle worked previously with legal professionals and has a beautiful 15 month old daughter Kayla.

We also farewelled Fleur Riley who was with us for 5 years as a receptionist / general office worker.  We wish Fleur well in the future and plenty of enjoyment with her as yet unborn grandchildren.
